A church staff page usually answers who someone is. With a small live availability badge, it can also answer whether now is a good time to reach them.
Start with the smallest useful answer
A public website should not reveal that someone is in counseling, meeting with a donor, preparing a sermon, or handling a private call. Most visitors only need Available, Available if needed, Unavailable, or Out of office.
Presence keeps the public labels intentionally broad. Detailed statuses and exact return times remain inside trusted views.
Keep the staff directory you already built
There is no reason to replace the church website or rebuild every staff card. Presence adds a lightweight script and one matching marker beside each participating person’s name.
The organization creates a separate public token, and every staff member opts in. Turning off public visibility removes that person without changing the website layout.
Offer a respectful next step
When someone is available and has enabled it, Digital Knock can appear beside the badge. A visitor sends only their name, the request is rate limited, and it expires automatically.
That gives people a clearer option than calling the main office repeatedly or walking down the hallway hoping someone is free.
- Create the organization and enable public staff-page badges.
- Ask each participating staff member to opt in.
